Thanks for the "walk through," James. Now I need the "Logos." program.

In the radio show cr today, someone asked about what references we use for Logos, so I wanted to share what I am personally using and what format I use. Here goes:

In Logos, (to get the layout I use) if you go to the top right and click layouts and then on the bottom left, click the one that has one window on the left and two on the right.

On the left will be the scripture, just type in whatever verse and it will pop up. See James' video for details. For that part, I have the AFAT to show the Hebrew scripture and the ESV next to it for reference. Then on the top right, I have the LHI Interlinear. (don't let the abbreviations bother you, just type them in the search box and that resource will pop up, or I can spell out what they are if needed). Then on the bottom right, I have the Lexicons: DBL Hebrew, CHALOT, BDB, GHCLOT, TWOT, NASB Dictionaries, Biblical Dead Sea Scrolls Bible Reference Index(which is the one I referenced in the cr today), and the Biblical Hebrew reference Grammar. I use the reference grammar to learn about the Hebrew language.

I also keep a printed copy of the ITG Hebrew alphabet on hand because it is very helpful so that when I see the Hebrew letters of a word I can figure out what English letters to use, although there is some guesswork when it comes to the vowels (I mean the vowels that are not on the ITG alphabet).. IE: Yowsph, I add the "e" to make it Yowseph, even though it's not there in the Hebrew but it makes it flow better. Most of the time this can be helped by seeing what the lexicons use for those vowels and remembering that which vowels you use for that really doesn't matter much, which was hard for me to comprehend because I like things to be more of a science than an art, but I'm getting used to it.

I would appreciate it if anyone knows of any resources I am missing that I really should have when translating. Hope this helps especially those who are just getting started with Logos. I think most of this stuff is also covered in James' video + a lot more.

Oh, one more thing... (Yada) gave me a good tip.. I keep Logos on only half my computer screen and I keep my word doc on the other half for my translation, so that I don't have to keep clicking back and forth and I can see it all at once.
